In fact, over half of Americans over the age of 50 wear dentures of some kind. Whether you have lost teeth due to decay, gum disease, or an injury, living with missing teeth makes it difficult to chew, speak clearly, and feel confident in social situations.
At Centerville Dental Center, we believe that today’s dentures should look completely natural and fit comfortably. Dentures are removable appliances designed to replace missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. While they do take some getting used to, modern dental technology allows us to create dentures that are far more comfortable, secure, and lifelike than the ones your grandparents wore.
During your free, no-obligation consultation, we will sit down with you, listen to your concerns, and help you choose the tooth replacement option that best fits your lifestyle and budget. From traditional full dentures to partials that blend seamlessly with your remaining teeth, we are here to help you smile again.

Dentures are custom-made in a specialized dental laboratory from precise impressions taken of your mouth. Depending on how many teeth you are missing and the health of your gums, we will recommend one of the following options.
If all of your teeth on the upper or lower arch need to be replaced, a conventional full denture is the standard solution. This features a flesh-colored acrylic base that fits snugly over your gums. The upper denture covers the roof of your mouth, while the lower is shaped like a horseshoe to leave room for your tongue. Conventional dentures are placed after any remaining teeth are extracted and the gum tissue has fully healed, which can take several months.
We know that the thought of going without teeth for months is daunting. An immediate denture is inserted on the same day that your remaining teeth are extracted, meaning you never have to be without a smile. However, because your gums and jawbone will shrink and reshape as they heal over the following months, immediate dentures will require relining later to ensure they continue to fit securely.
If you still have several healthy natural teeth remaining, a partial denture is an excellent option. A partial denture consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which is held in place by a metal framework that clasps onto your natural teeth. In some cases, we may place dental crowns on your natural teeth to serve as stronger anchors for the partial denture.
Your Questions, Answered Honestly.
Will they look fake? Honestly, no. We take great care in selecting the size, shape, and shade of the artificial teeth so they complement your facial features and look incredibly natural. We want people to notice your beautiful smile, not your dentures.
Are there alternatives to removable dentures? Yes. If you are looking for a more permanent, non-removable solution, we highly recommend considering dental implants or implant-supported dentures. Implants act as artificial tooth roots anchored into your jawbone, providing a foundation that will never slip or click when you eat or speak. We can discuss whether you are a candidate for implants during your consultation.
How long will it take to get used to them? New dentures will feel awkward or bulky for the first few weeks. Eating and speaking will take a little practice as the muscles of your cheeks and tongue learn to hold the denture in place. You may also experience minor irritation or excessive saliva flow initially. This is all completely normal, and we will be here to adjust the fit as needed until you are comfortable.
Since 1983, Centerville Dental Center has been helping patients across Centerville, Oakwood, Springboro, Carroll, and Kettering regain their confidence and quality of life. We understand that transitioning to dentures is a major life event, and our entire team is dedicated to supporting you through every step of the process with compassion and respect.
As you age, your mouth will naturally change shape, which can cause your dentures to loosen over time. We provide ongoing care, including relining, rebasing, and regular dental check-ups to ensure your dentures continue to fit perfectly and your gums remain healthy. If your dentures ever break, chip, or become loose, please come see us immediately — never try to adjust or repair them yourself. Call us today at 9346 Dayton Lebanon Pike, Centerville, OH 45458, and let’s start planning your new smile.

With proper care, a quality set of dentures can last between 5 to 10 years. However, because your jawbone and gums naturally shrink and change shape over time, your dentures will likely need to be relined, rebased, or adjusted every few years to maintain a secure and comfortable fit. We recommend an annual denture check-up to evaluate their condition.
Dentures require daily care just like natural teeth. You should brush them daily with a soft-bristled brush and a non-abrasive denture cleanser to remove food and plaque. When you are not wearing them, they must be kept moist in a soaking solution or plain water to prevent them from drying out and warping. Never use hot water. Also, always handle them over a folded towel or a basin of water, as they are delicate and can break if dropped.
No, you should remove your dentures every night before you go to sleep. Removing them gives your gums and jawbone a chance to rest from the pressure of wearing them all day. It also allows your saliva to naturally cleanse and soothe your mouth. While they are out, store them safely in a soaking solution.
Yes, absolutely. Even if you have no natural teeth remaining, you still need to visit us at least once a year. During these visits, we will check the fit of your dentures, examine your gums for any signs of irritation or sores, and perform a crucial oral cancer screening. We also recommend brushing your gums, tongue, and the roof of your mouth every morning before inserting your dentures to stimulate circulation and keep the tissue healthy.
Eating with new dentures takes practice. We recommend starting with soft foods cut into small pieces and chewing slowly using both sides of your mouth at the same time to keep the dentures stable. As you get used to them, you can gradually return to your normal diet. However, you should always be cautious with extremely hard, sticky, or tough foods.
